An Artistic Perspective
Cindy Rosecrance has been drawing for most of her life. Her art and interests in nature have been a part of her for as long as she or anyone else can remember. As a young girl in the Midwest, she loved being outdoors, connecting with the natural beauty and from of the world. Since childhood, Cindy has loved horses, in particular. For her, the real beauty of these creatures is in how they emit beauty of strength and grace. Simply put, their souls have depth.
Whether she is creating two- or three-dimensional Art, Nature is always with her. Early in her life, art instructors recognized Cindy as being extremely talented. As a young teenager, she was commissioned by others to render Oil or Pastel portraits of families or by friends. Her ability to create images and her command of media kept her assignment calendar full. Many still know her work because of the Pastel, Charcoal and Chalk portraits she created as a young artist.
The series of drawings began in the mid-90’s as loose sketches of the BIRDHEADS. Starting with a pen, the artist creates a series of lines that from a structural outline of the subject. There are no under-drawings or pre-planned ideas. As in painting, the lines are built up. Once the line is down, it is not altered. Then, using Colored Oil Pencil, Cindy shades and fills in the lines, fiving depth and life to the art. Although the subject matter in the series moves from BIRDHEADS, to PLANT MEN, LADYHEADS, EXTRATERRESTRIALHEADS to THE BLUE HORSE SERIES, the drawings all use the same visual vocabulary.
In 2003, Cindy released her private collection of written Haiku. Published by Writers Club Press-New York, Lincoln and Shanghai for your enjoyment. For “A brief bracing bite out of reality,” you will not want to miss ‘Haiku You’.
The art and literary works reflect on several levels about the times and places in the artists life in which they were created. In the world of post-911, the works have provided a space and vehicle for Cindy to explore her fears, joys, frustrations and concerns in ways that express her views and beliefs.
